Every Inchie Monday: Towel

Hello Folks,

Ah -- one of the iconic objects in The HitchHiker's Guide - the towel.  I love that this innocuous this item is "just about the most massively useful thing an interstellar Hitchhhiker can carry".  I also love that the towels in the book come from Marks and Spencer.  And of course you know that towel is this week's word for Every Inchie Monday.

My first towel is drawn simply.  I know Don't Panic appears on the book and not the towel but it seemed appropriate.

Again a difficult thing to quill, so I resorted to paper:

And I couldn't resist another use for towels with Easter coming up -- bunnies!

Keep you towel handy this week in case an interstellar ship happens by.  Stay dry and warm.

Every Inchie Monday: Earth

Hello Folks,

I love that Ford Prefect, that travelling contributer for the Guide, amends the entry for Earth from 'Harmless' to 'Mostly Harmless'.  It's one of my favourite moments in the novel.

I found this week's word at Every Inchie Monday quite difficult.  Once again I had to resort to a photograph because I felt my drawing skills were't up to depicting our home planet.  And I like this image:

The extend of my quilling this week is the little blue planet itself with a very bad cut out of the Americas.

Two rather unsuccessful attempts this week.  I guess you can't have it every time.  Have a good week and be kind to the earth.

Every inchie Monday; Beer

Hello Folks,

Isn't it great to know that interstellar travel requires beer? (which is this week's word at Every Inchie Monday).

In Canada we are very proud of our beer, which is reputed to have more alcohol content than American beer (but which probably doesn't because it depends on how it is measured).  So I chose a picture of a sort of iconic Canadian beer:

(Hard to tell by the picture but it is one inch square in the original.)

And for my quilled inchie - a plain old brown bottle of beer:

Personally I think beer tastes like dishwater.  It's just a taste I never acquired.  Neverthless, here's to you this week.  Cheers.

Every Inchie Monday: slippers

Hello Folks,

Poor Arthur - he spends a great deal of time in "The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy" in his bathrobe and slippers, this week's word at Every Inchie Monday.  Dignity dignity.  So I thought I'd give him even more 'dignity' by drawing him some bunny slippers:

For my quilled inchie, I made a pair of ballet slippers:

I confess that I am not one of those women who has a lot of shoes - I basically wear one pair all the time.   But I do have a number of pairs of slippers!

Have a good week and wear appropriate footwear.

Every Inchie Monday: Bulldozer

Hello fellow inchers:

Ah, one of the more iconic scenes in "Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy":  Arthur lying in front of the bulldozer which is about to demolish his lovely little house.  Gotta make room for those bypasses!

Here is my first inchie made using Inktense pencils, which I love, and prismacolour pencil crayons, which left some spaces in the yellow - let's just say that it's an old bulldozer and the paint is coming off.  Perspective is off a little, but I'm working on it.

I really enjoyed making this quilled inchie because it was such a challenge.  You really have to think in components when quilling.

Go to Every Inchie Monday to check out all the other bulldozers.  Hope you have a great week and no one tries to move you off the road.
